| From the outset, the Who stormed the Mod scene of West London with a sound and vision that distilled the pure essence of post-'50s rock & roll. Fast, furious, and noisy, their music was first rate and almost created a tension that always seemed ready to explode. In fact, most of the band's shows ended with Townshend and Moon destroying their instruments which all helped add to their image as serious rock stars. Songs like "The Kids Are Alright" and "My Generation" became teenage anthems and there's little argument that at their peak, the Who were one of the most innovative and powerful bands in rock history. |
